The Samsonite brand was born in 1910 when founder Jesse Shwayder began producing luggage for turn-of-the-century travelers - a small and affluent group who appreciated the company's unique, durable and finely crafted products.
From 1920 till 1929 Jesse Shwayder made the range of the products wider and published the first catalogue of the products.
In 1941 appeared a new one original leather suitcase
In 1962 Samsonite made a first one ABS case
The first one suitcase on the trolley appeared in 1974 and then company started to develop very fast:
- 1986 - the first one polypropylene case with three stages lock
- 1989 - the first suitcase with the combined system
- 1993 - the first Habdy-case for women
- 1997 - Big wheel, makes it easier to go upstairs
- 2000 - the first Samsonite suitcase made of aluminium
- 2001 - suitcase with bridge handle
- 2002 - the first lightweight luggage
- 2003 - the first four wheeled SpinnerR-case offering enhanced mobility that makes traveler's life easier.
